We take the time to interview our Simply colleagues, providing insight into our team’s essence. This week we had the pleasure to Interview:
Deputy Legal Manager in the Daventry Office.
I started working at Simply in 2017, and I help the Legal Manager run one of the legal teams. I am there to assist with escalations and help with the day to day running of the team.
What do you think are the most critical aspects of communication?
For me, the most critical aspect of communication is for it to be regular and consistent! It is essential to be empathetic and listen to the client; when you are buying or selling a house, it is all-consuming and your sole focus. It is all very stressful or can be, and it is essential to recognise that.
Tell me about what motivates you? What makes you go that extra mile in the job you do?
Happy customers who have valued the service received.
What observations have you made about our workplace culture? How would you work to uphold our values?
The culture at Simply is like that of a big family. We all help each other out and aim for the same goal; to provide an excellent service to our clients and agents.
What advice would you give to a colleague who was stressed out?
After I have quoted Julie Andrews: “Let’s start at the very beginning…..!”, I usually remind my colleague that they are human with that it is essential to ensure that they are looking after themselves. I remind them that they are doing a fantastic job and to do one thing at a time. It is essential to know when to switch off, and I also tell them to make sure that they take that lunch break!
What one piece of advice would you give to someone starting in your current position?
To be passionate about what you do and take pride in your work, the rest will work itself out. You will have good and bad days but stay focused on why you chose to pursue this career in the first place.
